What on earth do you give your mother on Mother’s Day when she says she’s given up on chocolate and the rest of the family will all buy flowers? This is the dilemma that 2 years ago, faced an 18 year old William. It was from this dilemma that William’s Bespoke Radiator Cabinets came into being.

Because he had always had a flair for design and preferred reading the history of Mark Wilkinson to Henry VIII, William decided he would design and make a radiator cabinet for the dining room. This prototype was the basis for the Kirkstone, which is now one of the most popular designs in the range.

As every man knows, women are never satisfied and William’s mother is no exception! Delighted with what her son had achieved she wanted more, and so, as she was paying for the materials and promising to cook his favourite meals, William set to, designing different styles of cabinets that would enhance each room of the house.

For the bedroom he designed and made the Oakham. With its contoured sides and added plinth, the Oakham is a very elegant and versatile design which will complement any room.

Based on the Oakham, William had his work cut out to come up with the Oundle. With its gothic arches, each cabinet needing six hand machined operations before they can even be classed as blanks and a further three to match them to a particular panel, there was plenty of fuel for the wood burner! However, with perseverance William has achieved a gothic arch, which can be finished to a point if the customer so desires. The Oundle has proved particularly popular with people living in converted chapels. It can be made to any size the customer requires; some have been 7ft high, others long and low.

Of course any young entrepreneur has to have more inspiration than his mother to keep him awake at nights thinking about designs for radiator cabinets. The inspiration came from friends who saw what he was achieving and commissioned him to make cabinets for them. Before long William was spending most of his time designing and making radiator cabinets and now at the still young age of 21 William’s Bespoke Radiator Cabinets is a company with a bright future.

For the customer with modern tastes there is the contemporary design of the Stamford and the Kimbolton. For both designs William has made presses to achieve the curved sides.

William is fast becoming a name people associate with quality in design, manufacture and service. William initially discusses each customer’s ideas on the telephone; he then visits with samples of cabinets to enable the customer to see how the design will look when incorporated into their scheme. Once the customer has chosen a design and decided on a colour finish, exact measurements are taken and a timescale agreed.

On his return it is William and his two highly skilled colleagues who hand make each cabinet taking as much care over every little detail as they do the hand painted finish. Once they are complete, William arranges a time to fit the cabinets into the customer’s home. This involves measuring and cutting cabinets to the contours of the skirting boards and sometimes the sloping floors, so that the finished article is a truly bespoke piece of furniture.

Williams Bespoke Radiator Cabinets are fast becoming a must have accessory in many homes as more and more customers, delighted with the product, recommend him to their friends.
